There are a few reasons why you might want to create a Windows Defender exclusion. For example, you might want to exclude a file or folder that you know is safe, but that Windows Defender might mistakenly identify as a virus. Or, you might want to exclude a process that is important for your computer to function properly, but that Windows Defender might flag as malicious. To create a Windows Defender exclusion, follow these steps: Open Windows Security. Click on Virus & threat protection. Under Virus & threat protection settings, click on Manage settings. Under Exclusions, click on Add or remove exclusions. Select the type of exclusion that you want to create. Enter the path to the file, folder, or process that you want to exclude. Click on Add. Once you have created an exclusion, Windows Defender will no longer scan the specified file, folder, or process. |
